Brainwerks Offers FDA-Approved Qbtest

We offer comprehensive ADHD evaluations, which include objective measures of core ADHD symptoms: hyperactivity, inattention, and impulsivity with QbTest telehealth.


QbTest is one of the widest FDA-cleared objective tests for both the diagnosis and treatment management of ADHD.


We utilize Qbtest for the initial assessment and follow-up treatment process, including measuring patient response to treatment, treatment optimization, and monitoring changes in symptoms over time.

DSM-5 Criteria for Diagnosis of ADHD

A. Six or more symptoms of inattention and/or six or more symptoms of hyperactivity/impulsivity must have persisted for at least six months to a degree that is inconsistent with the developmental level and negatively impacts social and academic/occupational activities.


B. Several symptoms (inattentive or hyperactive/impulsive) were present before the age of 12 years.


C. Several symptoms (inattentive or hyperactive/impulsive) must be present in two or more settings (e.g., at home, school, or work; with friends or relatives; in other activities).


D. There is clear evidence that the symptoms interfere with or reduce the quality of social, academic, or occupational functioning.


E. The symptoms do not occur exclusively during the course of schizophrenia or another psychotic disorder and are not better explained by another mental disorder (e.g., mood disorder, anxiety disorder, dissociative disorder, personality disorder, substance intoxication, or withdrawal).

  1. Often fails to give close attention to details or makes careless mistakes.
  2. Often has difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities.
  3. Often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly.
  4. Often does not follow through on instructions and fails to finish tasks.
  5. Often has difficulty organizing tasks and activities.
  6. Often avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort.
  7. Often lose things necessary for tasks and activities (e.g., school materials, pencils, books, tools, wallets, keys, paperwork, eyeglasses, mobile telephones).
  8. Is often easily distracted by extraneous stimuli.
  9. Is often forgetful in daily activities.

  1. Often fidgets with or taps his hands or feet, or squirms in his seat.
  2. Often leaves seat in situations when remaining seated is expected.
  3. Often runs about or climbs in situations where it is inappropriate. (Note: In adolescents or adults, it may be limited to feeling restless.)
  4. Often unable to play or engage in leisure activities quietly.
  5. It is often "on the go," acting as if "driven by a motor."
  6. Often talks excessively.
  7. Blurts out an answer before a question has been completed (e.g., completes people's sentences; cannot wait for turn in conversation).
  8. Often interrupts or intrudes on others (e.g., blurts into conversations, games, or activities).

FAQ:

  • Try to ensure adequate sleep the night before the test.
  • Avoid consuming excessive amounts of caffeine on the day of the test.
  • If you are to be tested while on ADHD medication, please ensure that you take the medication as directed. Our office will schedule the test a specific number of hours after the medication is taken, depending on the type of medication.
  • For a child, explain that they will be taking a test on a computer that is designed to be boring.

Testing is typically completed at the following frequency:


  • ADHD initial evaluation
    • Used together with other clinical measures to aid in more informed decisions ruling in or ruling out ADHD.
  • Starting treatment
    • You may be asked to retest once you are prescribed an ADHD medication to evaluate the impact the medication has on your inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity.
  • Follow-up assessment
    • Testing may be used at regular intervals to understand how your core symptoms may change over time with treatment.
